Sacrament of Confirmation 2024-2025

The celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation for the pupils at St Patrick's will be on Thursday 30th January at 7pm. Bishop Marcus will be celebrating the sacrament for pupils across St Patrick's Catholic Academy and St Mary's Catholic Academy, Batley only on this occasion. It will take place at St Mary's Church, Batley as it has been named a designated church for the Jubilee Year of 2025. 

 

Meetings for parents and pupils:

Wednesday 6th November at 3:40pm (Class 6KW)

This will be an introductory meeting with Mrs Moulding, Mrs Walker and Father Eamonn to explain the process and the expectations of school, families and the pupils in the preparation and receiving of this wonderful sacrament. The application form must be handed in. 

 

Saturday 16th November at 6pm Mass at St Patrick's Church

The candidates will be presented to the St Patrick's parish as they begin their journey of preparation.

 

Wednesday 22nd January at 3:40pm (Class 6KW)

This will be a discussion about what will happen at the Confirmation Mass on Thursday 30th January at 7pm St Mary's Church, Batley:

  • What the candidate must do and wear
  • What the sponsor must do
  • We will end this session with a short liturgy focussing on our chosen saints names.

 

Preparation Sessions:

  1. Week beginning Monday 18th November Session 1   (Session 2 to be taken home)
  2. Week beginning Monday 25th December Session 3  (Session 4 to be taken home)
  3. Week beginning Monday 2nd December Session 5  (Session 6 to be taken home)
  4. Week beginning Monday 9th December Session 7  (Session 8 to be taken home)(No session in the final week)
  5. Week beginning Tuesday 7th January Session 9 (Session 10 to be taken home)
  6. Week beginning Monday 13th January Session 11 (Session 12 to be taken home) To completed before the final parent meeting

There are a total of twelve preparation session booklets, we will be leading six of these sessions during the school day and ask that the child with the support of parents, complete one at home before the next session (six in total).
